features, they disrupt the bone cortex and cause
periosteal reaction, while they often expand to the
adjacent soft tissues. They may affect local and distant
lymph nodes and cause metastatic disease extending
hematogenously mainly to the lungs. The prognosis
depends on the histological identity, the size and
location of the lesion and the presence of metastases
on diagnosis. Nevertheless, the introduction of modern
chemotherapy regimens and the wide excision of
the lesions have recently improved survival, creating
new paths to a more molecular approach and the
development of therapies based on the molecular
profile of these tumors.
